Characteristics are described with a degree of granularity intended for die identification more so than for die classification. A characteristic may not span the entire die progression. Thus, not all characteristics may be present in any one coin.

OBVERSE ATTRIBUTES: Doubled Profile. Marker: The Date is set just to the left of what is considered normal position; but, within acceptable tolerance (Normal Date). This is a (Die #2 marker).

REVERSE ATTRIBUTES: Doubled Reverse Legend and Motto. Mint Mark set high and tilted slightly to the left (as viewed). Marker: Die polishing lines in and around the Bow. This is a (Die #1 marker).

COMMENTS ON THIS COIN:
  • This coin has all of the attributes associated with the VAM-39 and has been certified as a VAM-39 by the ANACS.
  • The A in DOLLAR is doubled on the right side (as viewed).
  • All Date digits are doubled at the top. This doubling isn't mentioned on VAMWorld's VAM-39 Page.

SPECIAL NOTE: A feature that has been described as a "Snail" due to its shape, would have been seen on a leaf of Right Wreath Cluster #4. However, in this case, Die polishing lines haved erased the feature. This feature is of the Hub and is seen on Morgan Silver Dollars that were minted from 1880 through 1904. A photograph this erased feature can be viewed in the Section entitled Features of Special Interest. Photographs of any other noteworthy features can be found in that Section as well.
