Characteristics are described with a degree of granularity intended for die identification more so than for die classification. A characteristic may not span the entire die progression. Thus, not all characteristics may be present in any one coin.

Obverse: III-2
  • Date is set in the Far position.
  • 5 in date doubled at top appearing as two short dashes on the left and right side.
  • Dense polish lines in the LIBERTY banner and lower hair.
  • Thick polish lines inside the ear opening.
Reverse: C3a
  • Mint is set right with a slight tilt left.
  • Fine diagonal polish lines in the wreath bow opening.
  • Large die flake in left wreath across from the "I" in UNITED. Same flake shows in VAM 1A, VAM 4A and VAM 7A.
Comments: This specimen shows alot of die polish marks on obverse and reverse.
